The Ministry of Transport is paying special attention to the development of Arctic territories
Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation
Today, with the development of new large-scale mining projects in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, the significance of the Northern Sea Route in terms of providing an energy supply to international markets simply cannot be overstated. According to experts, the potential volume of transit cargo along the Northern Sea Route to the East could be approximately 50 million tons, and to the West - between 2 and 3 million tons. Therefore, it is no coincidence that everything related to the Arctic marine transportation system and its development is an integral part of Russia’s state policy, and the Ministry of Transport is paying special attention to the development of Arctic territories.
