The information was received from an interview with Dmitry Kobilkin, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District governor, published in the “Expert” magazine. Commercial benefits of Yamali liquefied gas are obvious, the governor said.
“If you want to hear my opinion on Yamali gas, then I will have to tell you it is going to always have higher margin than, for example, Qatari or Zelanian gas. Our gas is about 30% more profitable”, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District governor said. “Liquefied gas production demands additional cooling which leads to additional expenses, whereas Yamali gas “lives in a natural refrigerator”.
Besides, a short transport leg also contributes to cost saving: the “Yamal LNG” plant is located right at a gas filed, near an outlet to the Northern Sea Route. It significantly helps with cost cutting. Yamal will have even more possibilities once it has large sea outlet, the governor believes.
