"Yamal LNG" and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) signed loan agreement.
The agreement envisage Japanese investment providing loans in the amount of 200 mln euro for LNG (liquefied natural gas) production in the Arctic. Over 10 inter-governmental agreements will be signed as well, including on cooperation in healthcare.
Economic cooperation between Moscow and Tokyo is developing in accordance with the eight point plan put forward by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at his meeting with Putin in Sochi on May 6. The plan envisages strengthening bilateral relations in the spheres of energy, small and medium business, industrialization of the Far East, expansion of the export base. The plan also includes a proposal on strengthening cooperation in the spheres of cutting-edge technologies, including nuclear energy, and humanitarian exchanges.
Tokyo hopes that the implementation of Abe's plan on economic cooperation will facilitate progress in the dilaogue on signing the peace treaty.
During Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Japan, Moscow and Tokyo will sign around 60 agreements worth nearly $2.5 billion.
